Flathead Speed and Machine is dedicated to the Ford flathead engine. We respect the traditional aspect of the flathead in every sense of the word and believe that it should always be held in high regard for what it is, "The King of All Hot Rod Engines." The flathead is, after all, the one that got this thing called hot rodding started in the first place.
Ford's V8 was introduced to the world at the perfect time, when young men were discovering just how much fun it was to go fast in their cars. These same young men quickly discovered that the new Ford V8 was faster than anything else widely available at the time. As quickly as the flathead was adopted by the masses as the engine of choice for anyone who wanted to go fast, speed parts were developed to support them. The aftermarket speed equipment industry was born!
By today's standards, the flathead is a dinosaur. Nearly any modern engine makes more power. But that's not the point. No other engine looks or sounds better in a hot rod. No other has the heritage of the Ford Flathead.
